Diaspora Affairs PS Roseline Kathure Njogu has reiterated that the significance of the Kenyan diaspora community goes beyond remittances, as they play a key role in knowledge, skills and technology transfer.
The PS, who joined her ICT counterpart PS Eng. John Kipchumba Tanui, MBS and Kajiado County Governor Joseph Ole Lenku for the official opening of the Diaspora Tech Partnership Conference at USIU-Africa in Nairobi, themed -Harnessing the Power of Diaspora for Growth, noted that Kenyans abroad have a broad global network that can be leveraged to drive Kenya’s socio-economic growth.
In a panel discussion, PS Njogu highlighted the huge potential of the diaspora especially through technology, innovation and development and the importance of creating an inclusive ecosystem that encourages the diaspora to share their expertise and engage in meaningful projects and initiatives back home.
Affirming the Government's commitment to support the diaspora in achieving economic growth, the PS emphasized the need for collaborations among stakeholders including the diaspora communities in fostering entrepreneurship and investment opportunities.
